The Ayr & District League has been running for 31 years this year (2005) and some founder members are still playing !! I myself have been playing pool in this League for 25 years this year.

The League first formed as Ayr & Prestwick Pool League and was primarily for teams from these areas. I can remember at 1 point there was actually 3 leagues running in the area with over 30 teams. It later became Ayr & District Pool League as teams from Maybole, Troon and Drongan wanted to join. It was at this point a boundary was laid down by the then Committee and this is still in force to this day and if memory serves me it stands at 12 miles from Ayr Town Hall.
